Expert in Membrane Technology for Water Treatment
Dr Jane Li with speakers of "Management of innovation for R&D" symposium
June 9-13, 2018
Lexington, KY, USA
To celebrate over 30 years of North American Membrane Society (NAMS), University of Kentucky and King Abdullah University of Science & Technology hosted the 27th Annual Meeting of NAMS at Hilton Lexington, KY, June 9-13, 2018.
Dr Norman Li served as NAMS’ president in 1992-1993 and organized ICOM 1990 in Chicago, which was so successful that the meeting generated the funding that currently supports NAMS numerous award programs. Dr. Li received Alan S. Michaels Award from NAMS in 2011 due to his exceptional lifetime contributions to membrane science and technology,
The NAMS annual conference is considered the premier meeting in the membrane field, which provided opportunities for peers to meet, learn and network. Near 500 participants from industry, academia and government, from across the globe, attended this grand event and NL Chemical Technology proudly became one of the corporate sponsors of the conference.
Dr. Patricia Sun and Dr. Norman Li co-authored an invited paper “Advanced Membrane for Water Treatment”. It was given by Dr. Patricia Sun as a keynote speech at the special session in honor of Dr. Elias Klein, the co-founder and 1st president of NAMS.
SUCE 2017
October 15 – 19, 2017
Beijing, China
The 9th Sino-US Joint Conference of Chemical Engineering (SUCE 2017) was successfully held at in Beijing October 15 to 19, 2017. Over 500 scientists, engineers, technologies from China, USA and many other countries around the world participated this grand event. Theme of this year’s conference was “Green Chemical Engineering” with the focus on providing clean and sustainable solutions to challenges associated with the global energy, resource and environmental issues and crisis. The latest development in different areas of Chemical Engineering were broadly communicated and discussed in 12 symposia 1 forum and 2 plenary panel discussions.
Dr Norman Li representing American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), served as one of the conference co-chairs. AIChE and its counterpart in China, the Chemical Industry & Engineering Society of China (CIESC) were the conference sponsors. Dr. Patricia Sun, a member of the NL Chemical Technology R&D team presented the advances in fouling resistant RO/NF membranes for water treatment and received very positive feedback from peers. One of the highlights of the conference program was the introduction of new symposium titled “Management of innovation for R&D”. Dr Jane Li organized and co-chaired the new symposium with 3 sessions of outstanding speakers, which obtained tremendous attention.
ICOM 2017
July 29 – August 4, 2017
San Francisco, CA, USA
San Francisco hosted the 11th International Congress on Membranes and Membrane Processes (ICOM 2017). It is the preeminent global event and the largest science and technology conference for membrane scientists and engineers from all over the world. It focused on "Enabling Membrane Technology" to overcome the challenges to replacing conventional technology in separations, energy production, and other applications.
Dr. Norman Li served as the Chair of ICOM 1990 held in Chicago and was invited to speak at the opening ceremony of ICOM 2017. For ICOM 2017, NL Chemical Technology was one of the corporate sponsors.
